Dear City Clerk of Meridian,
I am writing to let you know that I oppose the placement of the Oasis nightclub on the corner of Eagle rd and Ustick. I
have 5 children. When we moved to this area I would have never purchased the house I live in now if that nightclub had
existed there already.
I live in a neighborhood where residents are asked to be quiet after 10pm. A nightclub isn't going to follow those rules.
They do not plan to provide adequate parking for the number of patrons they propose they will have. This leaves people
parking along residential streets. Nightclubs sell alcohol. These patrons will be drinking alcohol and then walking, and
driving, down residential streets.
If they want to argue that many people will use a driving service, those cars going in and out will also cause congestion in
an already overburdened intersection.
When unruly patrons get kicked out of the nightclub, they will be kicked out onto our residential streets.
Please do not allow this nightclub to build a building near our children and their schools. Nightclubs belong far away
from residential areas. They bring crime and lower home values. When I go to sell my house, no one with children is
going to want to purchase it with a nightclub within walking distance.
Please continue with your purpose as a city to protect the well being of your citizens and their home values by
introducing the owners of the nightclub to a new plot of land inside a commercial area where families who want to keep
there children safe do not live. Thank you for your time.
