With all due respect, in advance of the July 20th hearing, we would like to express our opposition to the approval of the
Oasis Nightclub in the current location. No doubt there are other, less residential, less traffic impacted locations that
would be a better choice. It is not the business we oppose, but the location. As relatively new residents of Jackson
Square, we do not believe this business will preserve our property rights or the health and safety of residents (not to
mention the increased traffic and potential crime) which is directly contradictory to the City of Meridian’s stated mission
and values. Had we been aware of this proposed project we may have made a different home purchase choice, which is
exactly what I would expect a prospective buyer to do.
Common sense dictates that the opposition and concern voiced by residents far outweighs the value to the city that this
business is expected to bring in this location. It is my understanding that of the people voicing opinion, 80% were
opposed versus 20% in favor of approval of the project at the last hearing and the City Council approved it anyway. Is
this really how you want to represent the many over the few?
Thank you,
Kathy and Bruce Dickinson
