I am writing to state my opposition to the Oasis night club proposed to occupy space on the corner of Ustick and Eagle road. Introducing this type of business and environment to Meridian is antithetical to the Comprehensive Plan laid out by the City of Meridian to protect property values, the safety and well-being of the citizens, and the livability in our city and neighborhoods. Meridian markets itself as a family friendly community yet this type of venue should not be built in such close proximity to residential neighborhoods. There are other locations throughout the city that would be better suited. The late night traffic, noise and safety in neighboring subdivisions are just a few concerns I and many of my neighbors have. This location is already a very busy intersection. Turning left out of the Champion Park subdivision is already a challenge at times. Add the increased traffic as Villa Sports opens up and other businesses on that parcel of land and this additional nightclub traffic all in the evening hours will disrupt the neighborhood atmosphere we currently enjoy. This night club will increase noise in the evenings with music, traffic, and potential domestic disturbances. Parking is not adequate for the venue which will likely push patrons into neighborhoods to park along the streets bringing additional safety concerns as patrons leave the venue after an evening of drinking trying to pull onto busy Eagle road, not to mention the street parking on already full residential streets. Please carefully consider the impact this type of business will have on the residential neighborhoods in such close proximity. Please also consider the impact of the already approved businesses on that block.mainly Villa Sports, and the late night traffic, parking, and noise it alone will bring before adding the additional concerns of this night club that doesn’t meet the requirements laid out in the city comprehensive plan so is requesting a Conditional Use Permit. Please preserve the family friendly residential neighborhoods we chose because of the safety and thoughtful choices of commercial development around them and do not issue the CUP to The Oasis night club at this proposed location Thank you for your careful consideration of our concerns.
