Good morning,
I am submitting this opposition to you in writing with the hopes that it will reach the ears of the people that are making
this decision on whether or not a nightclub should be allowed to be opened near Eagle/Ustick in Meridian. I live with my
wife and 4 children in the Greenhill Neighborhood just a few miles south of there, at Eagle/Franklin. I also manage a
mortgage lending company in Meridian. I have lived in this area for 40+yrs. A nightclub in that location will seriously
detract from the family-friendly feeling that we have in our community now. It is very irresponsible for anyone to even
consider the idea that it would be safe or OK to open a club at that location where one of the main attractions is alcohol,
with it being near the busiest road in the state. Eagle Road already has too many serious accidents and the addition of
hundreds of impaired drivers on that road nightly, crossing through those busy intersections will have a huge impact on
driver safety all around the city of Meridian. There would undoubtedly be a sharp increase in driving accidents because
of the huge increase in impaired drivers in the area, which would lead to constant lawsuits against the club owners and
the city/county officials that approved the mess in the first place. Please stop this problem before it starts. There are
plenty of areas around that are essentially designed drinking & party areas already. Adding another spot at that location
will only have negative effects on our community.
