Subject:P & Z concerns for Centerville Subdivision (amity/hillsdale)
External Sender - Please use caution with links or attachments.
Good morning, I am writing this email in regards to the future development of Centerville subdivision on the corner of
Amity road and Hillsdale ave. I am a resident in Hillsdale Creek subdivision. Currently my main concern is the impact
adding more residence will have on the surrounding community. First the surrounding streets including Amity and
Cloverdale have no middle turning lanes and already are very difficult to pull out into traffic so increasing more housing,
hence cars, will make it even more difficult to drive in and out of the subdivisions. There is a HUGE need for improving
those streets to accommodate the increase in traffic. Another concern is the Centerville apartment/townhouse overflow
parking affecting surrounding streets, which may impact our subdivision and ask that this NOT be allowed to happen.
The developer needs to have adequate parking for all the residence and any guests that visit. I also think the Highway
district needs to make sure Hillsdale Ave. has no parking signs on the side of the street and also consider adding a
crosswalk for people using the YMCA.
Secondly, the schools on the south side of the freeway in Meridian are very overcrowded. Currently my daughter
attends Mountain View high school and it has been rough for her at times due to a very overcrowded lunch room,
packed hallways and overcrowded classrooms. There needs to be more schools developed to accommodate all the
people moving in and ignoring that fact is putting a huge burden on our children and negatively impacting their learning
environment. I am asking you to consider avoiding approving high density subdivisions in order to reduce the
overcrowding in all our schools until additional schools are built.
Thirdly, no matter what the final plan is for the Centerville subdivision, it needs match the landscape and style of the
surrounding subdivisions and also hope there will be a HOA that will keep up the integrity of the community.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter and helping keep our communities safe and enjoyable.
