Please use caution. Sender: Sandi Jones <jonesandi@gmail.com> Mayor Simison: Please read the attached letter which I sent to your office on May 18 of this year. We, three families who live in close proximity to the proposed nightclub, would like our voices heard regarding this addition to our neighborhood. We are genuinely opposed to this business. It does NOT belong in a family, residential community. If he wants to build this type of establishment, there are plenty of other choices he could make. In fact, to my way of thinking, it doesn't belong in Meridian City at all because we are known for being a nice, family oriented community. Thank you for reading my message, and please, please carefully consider all the families that will be negatively impacted by allowing this to go forward. Regards, Sandi & Rod Jones Sally MacDonald Bill and MaryAnn Lee 1 May 18, 2021 This letter is written by three households in close proximity to the proposed Oasis nightclub. We have some major concerns about the business going in, the amount of traffic it will create, and the environment it will create. New information has been discovered regarding the type of nightclub this is and the atmosphere it promotes. This will be a EDM establishment, which if you look that up, is a type of music, much like the rock and roll I grew up with, but it is more about the emotional stimulant. In addition, they advertise they promote PLUR, which at first glance seems pretty tame — Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. Sounds fine, right? But what you don't know is that it is really is about underground outdoor trance music party. Now, I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound like a very good environment for my neighborhood, much less Meridian city. The Oasis is established in other cities, and they are having major problems due to the clientele this establishment encourages. Is the Meridian Police force willing to take on the task of patrolling our neighborhoods, and the extra traffic on Ustick Road AND the area the nightclub sits in? I have heard they aren't willing to do this. We have more than enough traffic on Ustick Road now, then factor in all those cars full of inebriated drivers and people. We don't need that. The owner agreed to reduce the capacity to 400 patrons, knowing full well he just needs your approval, then he will allow as many patrons as he can get in the door. Who is going to monitor it? The police aren't. Parking has not been addressed to our satisfaction. Where are all the extra cars going to park once the 125 parking spaces are full? The adjoining neighborhood? Along Ustick Road? Again, who is going to monitor that? We respectfully demand this type of business be rejected in this mostly residential community. There are plenty of building sites available which aren't surrounded by homes and families. And is there anyone who doesn't believe this will be one of the most police siren -noisy areas of Meridian? I don't think you would like it to be in your neighborhood. Sincerely, od and andli Jones Sally MacDonald Bill and "Ann Lee
