Toni,
Thank you for your and I appreciate the information and perspective you have provided. As this is an open application,
the City Council and myself (as a potential tie breaking vote) are not able to comment on the project outside of the
public hearing. I am copying our City Clerk so your email and this response can be included into the record.
Respectfully,
Mayor Robert Simison
City of Meridian

Meridian City elected officials,
I have work commitments tomorrow at the time the hearing is scheduled but I want to let you know that I object in the
strongest terms that are possible while remaining civil to rezoning the acreage at Victory and Locust Grove for high-
density housing. The only people that it benefits are developers and those associated with them. The taxpayers will have
to bear the burden of the additional infrastructure that will be required and the decreased quality of life, which is what
led each of us to purchase homes in this area.
Having been married to a law-enforcement officer for many years, I am also well-aware of the potential—indeed, the
likelihood--for increased criminal activity that typically goes hand-in-hand with developments of this density. This
rezoning would simultaneously increase my tax burden and reduce my quality of life. I object!
I strongly encourage you to table this get-rich-quick scheme and consider instead quality of life for residents. If it’s such
a good idea, locate this type of housing development in your back yard; then I might believe that you have the best
interests of residents in mind.
I vote in every election, just in case you’re wondering.
