Mr. Mayor & Councilmembers,
I am writing in reference to the up-and-coming meeting on May 25th, 2021, regarding the rezoning of the
properties @ South Victory and Locust Grove. It is my opinion that this area is currently saturated enough with
single family homes and has a great deal of traffic constipations throughout the commuter's daily
travel. There is a drastically increased level of cars and people on the road in just a 24-48 month time frame
that has not allowed for our city to meet this increased population with the proper roads and passageways for
transportation. As a result, this has created a larger number of automobile accidents and increased travel
times that will only increase in this area of Meridian if this multifamily development, and others like it that
have been proposed, are allowed to be built. Let's think strategically and build the infrastructure first and
control the growth at a manageable rate. What has been happening this past 2-3 years is unsustainable and
will lead to being further behind the ball when it comes to moving people and goods efficiently throughout the
city and the surrounding valley.
I feel that we have reached a saturation point and that we should resist rezoning for multi-family units. I
realize you have pressure from developers and the construction industry to meet the increased demand of
population explosion in our great city and our great state. I implore you, to act with calm and not haste and to
take the needed time to find solutions to the population growth without compromising the safety and
attributes that bring people to live in Meridian. Protect our single-family home communities in the great city
of Meridian, and let us grow in a timely manner
Thank You and see You @ the Meeting
Elijah
