Hi Sonya- Per the DRAFT SH-69 corridor plan, Meridian Road north of Lake Hazel Road will be widened to 6 lanes. https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/3c4a2858dO5d4b35ae92e6165acbO57e V nu.rrr w.a ■ 4air Na rel fbar F ArI614K 1*1 pit" } _ i GrFwinMa Asa# It's not a problem to install a right turn lane at Quartz Road today, ITD will just remove and replace in the future. There is not currently a funded project for improvements at Quartz Creek road or for widening on SH-69. ITD doesn't differentiate between temporary and permanent. The standards for design and construction is the same regardless of how long a turn lane remains in place. Here's what's required for the design: SH-69 has a speed of 55MPH through Quartz Road. Attached is a length determination sheet. The total length is: Storage =Oft Decel = 340ft Taper= 180ft Total = 520ft There's the McBirney Lateral canal and associated canal roads right at 520ft. 1 can give a 10% reduction on lane length so that we can avoid the canal. That puts you at 468ft total. 3 _ R UZ The lane width shall by 12ft. The shoulder needs to be maintained at 10ft to match existing. Attached are ITD's special provisions for pavement sections, etc. ITD has 60ft of right-of-way from the center of the road to the east side. This should be more than enough to accommodate the turn lane plus drainage features. If not, the developer would need to dedicate whatever additional right-of-way is needed. This should be everything needed to design a right turn lane. Let me know if you have other questions. Be cautious and DO NOT open links or attachments if the sender is unknown. --- Hi Sarah & Erika, City Council heard this project again on Tuesday night and had some additional questions I'm hoping you can help with. The Council seemed to want the right turn lane on SH-69 at Quartz Creek to be constructed with development to ensure public safety with the development of this project rather than having them contribute their proportionate share for the future corridor improvements since it could be some time before they'd be complete. The Applicant is amenable to doing so but because the corridor plans haven't been finalized, Council was unsure if this is a viable option at this time. Can you please give me your thoughts on this as well as if there are general specs you could send me for a right-turn lane so the Applicant knows what is expected and also the location for such?Would a temporary right turn lane be a better option until the corridor plan is approved and improvements are constructed? If so, please provide a recommendation on this (i.e. location, specs, etc.). (Dave, if I've missed anything please chime in.)
