We are supportive of the text amendments that are before you tonight, with one exception regarding the Planning&Zoning Commission's recommendation on common driveways. The Planning&Zoning Commission's final motion stated: "on common driveways, making an additional change to the maximum dwelling unit served, that there was a lot of discussion from the Commission that we would prefer to see no more than three dwellings, but we would at least request lowering that maximum to four dwellings and allowing alternative compliance if someone wanted to seek additional units." In the Commission's deliberation, there was a lot of discussion and support to reduce the number of units allowed to access a common driveway. We understand the concerns regarding services, parking and trash service, and we do agree that six(6) units is too many without additional support through alternative compliance. Even though the Commission recommended three (3) dwelling units, the Commission's "back up" alternative stated: ".. but we would at least request lowering that maximum to four dwellings and allowing alternative compliance if someone wanted to seek additional units." If the City Council does decide to limit the number of dwelling units that access a common drive,we request that the number be limited to four(4) dwelling units, and that any request over that amount require alternative compliance. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Brighton Development, Inc. Jonathan D. Wardle cc: Bill Parsons Meridian City Clerk BRIGHTON—Creating GREAT Places—2929 W.
