To Honorable Mayor Simison and City of Meridian City Council,
Thank you so very much for your dedication and service to our City.
I have seen the recent proposal for Meridian South Fire Station and Police Substation AZ H-2021-0008. I haven’t seen
any written testimony, and I would like to add my full and unwavering support to the South Meridian project and to the
likely future Northwest Meridian project (in tax dollars and spirit); these locations gives our citizens a sense of safety and
assurance in knowing these vital emergency services are nearby as our city grows. This isn’t the case of commercial pads
waiting for the rooftops to support them, but rather these stations need to be in place to support the citizens as they
move into the approved and future residences, businesses, community centers, parks, and schools.
I fully support our brave officers and brave fire department and we need to give them the locations and equipment
necessary to get the job done to a standard that they have imposed upon themselves, for our departments have set the
bar high and they continuously perform at an exemplary level that we all might take for granted from time to time until
the occasion of emergency falls upon us. I would also support the purchase of trucks and aerial equipment necessary for
emergencies as the number of stories grow in buildings as allowed heights are increasing valley-wide.
Emergency crisis response times and performance levels will be vastly improved, lessening the occurrence of tragedy,
which is something the police and/or fire department must bear and carry in their hearts as well.
Sincerely,
Malissa Bernard
