HomeMy WebLinkAboutNarrativeBurlingame Subdivision No. 2 Alternative Compliance Written Narrative AMH Burlingame Development TRS, LLC, requests alternative compliance for the landscaping along the pathways in Burlingame Subdivision No. 2, consisting of 45 single-family residential lots, 1 common driveway lot and 9 common lots on 10.49 acres in an R-8 zone. Burlingame Subdivision No. 2 is located northwest of the intersection of W. Cherry Lane and N. Black Cat Road and south of Turnberry Subdivision. The owner requests alternative compliance regarding Meridian City Code Section 11-3B-12 - Pathway Landscaping, which requires a minimum of one tree per one hundred linear feet of pathway. With approximately 1,100 feet of pathway, the tree requirement would be 11 trees. Settlers Irrigation District has existing irrigation facilities on the north and east sides of the property, and they do not allow trees to be placed within their easement. The owner has kept the existing large spruce trees on the northern and eastern boundaries, which far exceed the landscaping requirement. The trees on the north will be retained within the existing residential lots. The trees on the eastern boundary are contained within the common lot for the pathway. These trees are 14-16 caliper inches and provide shade, visual interest and valuable wildlife habitat. We respectfully request that the retention of these trees serve as an acceptable alternative to the pathway trees. Thank you.
