For that reason, the Council did not approve the lease at its meeting on June 24, 2002. Instead, the Council would like you and a couple of your Chamber Board Members to appear at the Council meeting on July 2, 2002, to review and discuss the reasons for the changes that you've made. The changes that I noted were the addition under paragraph VI, USE OF PREMISES, of language requiring the City to maintain landscaping and watering of the premises. It is my understanding that the City Parks Department will continue doing what it has done in the past, which is to maintain the lawn and trees, and provide the irrigation. But there should be some discussion about flower beds, shrub beds, etc. I also noted that you removed the RIGHT OF INSPECTION paragraph, and the provision of the DEFAULT paragraph, regarding nonpayment. The later two changes, I assume were made because you felt that the City would not need to inspect the Chamber building, and since the fifty year lease payment was being paid up front, there would be no reason to have a default provision, however, because we did not discuss these changes, I can only assume that was your intention. Lastly, you need to address an additional issue which the Parks Department raised, which is snow removal for the Chamber parking lot. I look forward to your appearance before the Council. It appears that we are close to finishing this matter. Very truly ...... Wm. F. Nichols Cc~ Mayor Robert D. Corrie Meridian City Council William G.
