C.J.,
Thank you for your email. I appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts and comments.
Because this project is part of an open application, myself and City Council members are prohibited from commenting
outside the public hearing. We take public feedback seriously and want you to know that I have received your email and
have read your comments.
A public hearing was held last night before the City of Meridian Planning & Zoning Commission. They opted to continue
the hearing until May 6th at 6:00 pm. The Planning and Zoning Commission will make the decision on this project unless
their ruling is appealed. If that occurs it would then be heard by the City Council. While I do not have a vote unless there
is a tie, any comments regarding the project should be reserved for that public process.
Your email and my response will be included in the public record. The City Clerk has the project file available online for
review: The Oasis CUP H-2021-0004. Prior to the public hearing anyone is able to review the application materials at any
time as well as submit testimony. If you have any additional comments you are able to submit testimony in advance in a
number of ways. Please note, all forms of testimony hold the same weight. Written testimony may be submitted by
email to cityclerk@meridiancity.org or by text message by texting “Comment” to 31996. Video testimony can be
recorded in advance and sent by email to cityclerk@meridiancity.org. Comments can also be left by voicemail. Please
call (208) 288-5607 to record your voice testimony. For additional information associated with this application please
contact the City of Meridian Planner Joseph Dodson at 208-884-5533.
Thank you again for sharing your comments.

Hello,
1
I only very recently found out about the club/concert venue that was proposed at the corner of Ustick
and Eagle, by a neighbor that I spoke with in passing. He and his family are opposed to the location,
as are me and my family.
It was rather coincidental that I had heard about this at all because I, like many people nowadays due
to the pandemic, work from home and don't get out much or socialize really at all.. I would wager that
90% of my neighbors are the same - retirees and at-home parents and so forth that have become
disconnected to what all may be happening outside of their homes. Yet we're the ones that this
project will be effecting and so our voices should be considered the most.
I would suggest doing a door-to-door petition and you'll see how overwhelmingly this project would be
an unwelcome concern. Anyone not from the immediate area surrounding the proposed location
should carry little to no weight--it's very easy to welcome a project that will not affect you or our family!
Here are some issues that I've identified:
- Limited parking means certain overflow into the neighborhoods. This presents a threat to the lives
of indoor/outdoor cats and gated dogs to where they could get run over (low visibility at night) or
taken. Also, people walking to their cars create noise - be it the beep of their car alarm, car engines
turning over, or talking on their cel phones. Noise carries really easily around here even at basic
conversation levels. Having strangers in the neighborhood at all hours of the night, and ones that
may be intoxicated, also increases the opportunity and likelihood of crime, littering, and relieving
themselves in our yards. Not to mention wear and tear on our roads--ours just newly got asphalted
about a year ago. People who aren't from here have much less regard for the property and peace of
those that do live here.
- The owner's limited experience does not give confidence in their ability to prevent the issues that we
foresee. From what I've read, the owner has merely a few years worth of event production
experience. How are we expected to trust a multi-million dollar undertaking that will affect thousands
of local residents to someone of junior experience? If you refer to their website, you'll see that even
their copy is not well thought-out and is immaturely written. Yet that is the easy part! Included in
which are the tired, old standards once commonly seen of big city clubs where women and men are
treated differently - from apparel to cover charges. It's not a healthy culture to propagate for women
to be encouraged to wear less and that they should get special benefits because of their gender.
- It is simply not the appropriate location. Such project would be far better suited closer to the
highway such as the lot next to the on-ramp on Meridian Rd. That location is heavily commercial and
it has immediate freeway access which means less congestion on our main roads--Eagle Rd already
has congestion issues.
Thank you so very much for your time and attention upon this matter.
Sincerely,
C.J.
