Dear distinguished Meridian City officials, Thank you for performing your duties on behalf of our wonderful city. Please include the attached document in the public comments in opposition to the Oasis night club proposal discussion. Thank you, Michael Kynaston 1 March 18, 2021 To our distinguished Meridian City officials: I want to add my voice to the many in strong opposition to the Oasis night club being proposed at the corner of Eagle Rd and Ustick Rd. The issue is simple, this location is a central hub to families and residential living. It is not a location for a night club and the lifestyle, city impact, crime and objectifying of women that a night club, especially this night club, promotes. That is not the Meridian that families nationwide are flocking to. A night club doesn’t belong at that intersection. I reference the many others who have already submitted in writing to you the factually relevant information regarding the statistics of traffic, crime, public disturbances that come with an establishment like a night club. I don’t condemn people who want that, but there are much more appropriate locations than our city per its stated goals to put it. Meridian will see good families that are the backbone of this city take their lives, livelihoods, and consistent tax-paying support somewhere else if we allow the deterioration of our values to creep in. I was born and raised in Eagle, Idaho and attended Meridian Middle School and Centennial High School. I’ve lived in Meridian for the past 15 years raising my own young children and I value the life available to my family here. Through work and service, I have traveled the world and even lived abroad for several years. There is no place like Idaho. Idaho stands for something significant that is envied nationwide. That envy is for a wholesome, family oriented, outdoor- friendly lifestyle, NOT for the nightlife, party life, big city life. The lifestyle we enjoy here requires investment, stewardship, care and effort from like-minded people and leaders like you to preserve. Let’s do the right thing for our city by doing our due diligence to protect what we value so much. Thank you for your time and service to our community.
