Dear officials of the City of Meridian; I currently live on Eagle Road and have for over forty years. I have seen many changes, to say the least. My grandparents lived where Walgreens now sits for over 6 decades. I only mention these facts so you will realize my genuine concern with the upcoming final permits for the Oasis Nightclub. After receiving much backlash from concerned citizens of Meridian, they are now saying in addition to the nightclub, it is going to be a venue for wedding receptions, dance instruction, pet adoption, cheerleading training, and art shows. A nightclub is a nightclub....they can call it what they want. We live within 1/2 mile of the proposed nightclub. We have never received any information of this even happening. We were told that it was a 'health club'. Now after it is well underway, the truth comes out. Very deceiving! Please consider all of the pleas that you are receiving. The neighboring citizens have done their homework. * This area is designed for family living. Not a 'nightclub'. * This type of establishment decreases property value for homeowners. * Increased violence and deaths associated with nightclubs. * Parking for 125 with a capacity of 1000. * 2 elementary schools within one mile. * How will the traffic be impacted? Eagle Road is a nightmare! This is taken directly from Mayor Simison's campaign website: Meridian is all about family. We pride ourselves on being the premier community to raise our families, which is reflected in our investment in our city parks and emphasis on public safety. Our focus is on meeting the needs of families, which means having job opportunities so people can work and live here. Meridian is a safe community where grandparents want to move to be closer to their family. It’s where the family unit and family values are strong that makes the community as a whole strong. I am running to ensure that Meridian remains a safe community built around families. Please keep Meridian a place where families feel safe and family values are respected and upheld. Thank you, Bug Walker Bug Whatever you are...be a good one! (Abraham Lincoln) 1
