Hello,
I'm contacting several people on the Meridian city council and planning department to oppose the Oasis
Nightclub. I've lived in the Treasure Valley for 15 years and grown up here. I commute a lot along Eagle and
Ustick.
The proposed location for the nightclub is right on the Eagle and Ustick intersection; aside from being very
busy, I often see people driving less than responsibly, even at night. I can't imagine that adding alcohol to the
mix would be helpful in bettering the situation. Looking up information about accidents along this intersection
yields lots of results: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=accidents+on+eagle+and+ustick&t=brave&ia=web
I don't want additional contributors to traffic accidents to come to Meridian and I urge you to listen to people
who have families in the area, as there's lots of them in the area with young children. As someone starting a
family soon, this is also a big concern for me. The Oasis will surely lack in parking; this could cause some
problems: they could park in nearby business' parking lots, and ultimately try to park in the nearby
neighborhoods. This will cause increased traffic on a busy intersection that already lacks in infrastructure to
deal with the amount of traffic it takes every day.
The Oasis will also never be able to ensure that NOBODY will ever try to drive home drunk. One person could
act sober enough to convince staff they're good to drive, a group of friends can enable a drunk friend, or the
staff that night could just not care. This severely increases the chances of patrons of this establishment to
1
cause property damage or worse, kill someone. Truthfully if this nightclub gets built I'd consider urging my
family to move away, and I'd consider starting a family elsewhere.
I'm not opposed to there being a nightclub or entertainment venue in Meridian. I simply urge you and the other
council members to not allow it to be built on Eagle and Ustick, on account of the increased risk in traffic
accidents and the harm it could bring to the community. Perhaps closer to The Village or the freeway?
Best,
Stephanie

Stephanie,
Thank you for your email. I appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts and comments.
Because this project is part of an open application, myself and City Council members are prohibited from commenting
outside the public hearing. We take public feedback seriously and want you to know that I have received your email and
have read your comments.
A public hearing before the City of Meridian Planning & Zoning Commission will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at
6:00pm. The Planning and Zoning Commission will make the decision on this project unless their ruling is appealed. If
that occurs it would then be heard by the City Council. While I do not have a vote unless there is a tie, any comments
regarding the project should be reserved for that public process.
Your email and my response will be included in the public record. The City Clerk has the project file available online for
review: The Oasis CUP H-2021-0004. Prior to the public hearing anyone is able to review the application materials at any
time as well as submit testimony. If you have any additional comments you are able to submit testimony in advance in a
number of ways. Please note, all forms of testimony hold the same weight. Written testimony may be submitted by
email to cityclerk@meridiancity.org or by text message by texting “Comment” to 31996. Video testimony can be
recorded in advance and sent by email to cityclerk@meridiancity.org. Comments can also be left by voicemail. Please
call (208) 288-5607 to record your voice testimony. For additional information associated with this application please
contact the City of Meridian Planner Joseph Dodson at 208-884-5533.
Thank you again for sharing your comments.
Respectfully,
Mayor Robert Simison
City of Meridian

Hello Mr. Mayor,
1
I'm contacting several people on the Meridian council to oppose the Oasis Nightclub. I've lived in the Treasure Valley for
15 years and grown up here. I commute a lot along Eagle and Ustick and have family within a mile of the proposed
location.
Aside from Eagle and Ustick being very busy, I often see people driving less than responsibly, even at night. I can't
imagine that adding alcohol to the mix would be helpful in bettering the situation. Looking up information about
accidents along this intersection yields lots of
results: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=accidents+on+eagle+and+ustick&t=brave&ia=web
I don't want additional contributors to traffic accidents to come to Meridian and I urge you to listen to people who have
families in the area, as there's lots of people with young children. As someone starting a family soon and potentially
moving closer to this area, this is also a big concern for me. The Oasis will surely lack in parking, and they can't ensure
that NOBODY will ever try to drive home drunk. This will inevitably lead to people parking in a residential area and
potentially try to drive back home, inebriated. They could cause property damage, or potentially kill someone.
I'm not opposed to there being a nightclub or entertainment venue in Meridian. I simply urge you and the other council
members to not allow it to be built on Eagle and Ustick. Perhaps closer to The Village or the freeway?
Best,
Stephanie
