Hello members of the City Planning Staff, City Council, and Mayor,
I am writing in public opposition to the Oasis Night Club that is proposed for the Eagle and Ustick intersection in
Meridian.
I live within a half mile of this location and strongly oppose adding this business. The area is residential mixed use, with
many families and children in the area. These are a few of the main concerns with the addition of a nightclub at this
location:
1. too much traffic already in the area, this is NOT a good idea (1)
2. increased DUI's in a heavily populated and traffic congested area (2)
3. not safe for our residential area (increased crime rate comes from night clubs) (3)
4. increased noise in residential area (4)
5. increased drug use in the area (5)
6. increased sexual crimes in the area (6)
7. zoned for mixed-use, not zoned for nightclubs in this area (nor should it be) (7)
8. decreased property value for residents in the area (8)
9. objectification of women (different dress codes: business casual for men vs. beach attire for women; $5 cover charge
for women v.s $15 for men)(9)
I ask that you count my voice with those submitted in opposition as we request the city deny the application and any
subsequent requested reviews.
This is not appropriate for what our city stands for as stated on our city website: "A premier place to live, work, and
raise a family." The Oasis is not in line with the goals of our city, in addition to the dangerous implications it will
bring to our area as stated above.

(1) After Cole Road/Overland Road and Eagle Road/Fairview Avenue, the most dangerous areas by crash frequency
were:
- Eagle Road and Franklin Road, Meridian (128)
- Midland Boulevard and Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard, Nampa (119)

- Eagle Road and Ustick Road, Meridian (118)
"The intersection of Eagle Road and Fairview Avenue and Meridian has had the most injury crashes (90) in the
last three years. Three of the top seven dangerous intersections in the area are on Eagle Road, statistics say.

example, an employment center should have supporting retail uses; a retail center should have supporting residential
uses as well as supportive neighborhood and community services. The standards for the MU-R designation provide an
incentive for larger public and quasi-public uses where they provide a meaningful and appropriate mix to the
development. The developments are encouraged to be designed consistent with the conceptual MU-R plan depicted."
