Mayor Simison, Meridian City Council Members, and P&Z commissioners
I am strongly opposed to having a nightclub in our neighborhood. I've lived in the Carol subdivision just west of the
project for 33 years. As you know, the surrounding area is residential. Local businesses cater to families. (department,
home improvement, grocery, music, and tire stores, dental offices, dine in restaurants, and many others) All of these
businesses are a stone's throw from the proposed nightclub. This project will seriously disrupt the residential flavor of
our neighborhood and negatively impact property values.
I'm not sure why construction was allowed to begin without the CUP needed to operate. Are the owners assuming that
forgiveness is easier than permission? This situation puts extreme pressure on the planning and zoning commission to
approve something that doesn't appear to be properly vetted.
The website for the Oasis touts their state of the art sound system, unique dance floor, and concert venue. I've no
doubt that patrons will enjoy going there, but I also have no doubt that area residents like me don't deserve to be
disturbed by the late night traffic, concert noise, and other problems that always come with establishments that serve
alcohol and are open until 2 am. This is a family friendly area. This project belongs in a business park or an industrial
area.
Another concern is the negative impact this project will have on surrounding businesses. The Village is less than a mile
away. It has become a centerpiece for shopping and entertainment in the valley. I believe having a nightclub so close
will diminish the appeal of the neighborhood.
Please deny this CUP. We've raised our family here and hate to see this kind of business disrupt the ambiance of our
neighborhood. thanks
