Family -friendly VillaSport is much like any YMCA with its offerings of programs for our youth via
membership. The Y is famous for its before and after school programs, day camps, summer camps,
classes and activities that not only help with the homework but assist in guided activities. VillaSport will
be providing this much needed service for families with kids, because as our City grows families are
stretched to find suitable youth program options in close proximities to their homes and children's
schools to fill that gap between school times and working parents' schedules to pick kids up. Kids will be
utilizing Class times and Activities during evening hours as well.
Both the YMCA and VillaSport models are membership based. I took a sampling of YMCA facilities in our
Valley, throughout Idaho, and even a couple nearest Idaho in Spokane. The prevalent atmosphere is the
same ... not a nightclub in sight. Furthermore, only one bar is somewhat close (city block distance) and it
is the one in the steakhouse Lock, Stock, and Barrel in Downtown Boise. All the locations below do not
have drinking establishments around the YMCA.
This nightclub proposal doesn't fit the area surrounding it. There are many schools in close proximity
with children that will be utilizing VillaSport for fitness classes for all seasons, during school seasons and
off-season. Kids will be at the pool in the summer, and we don't get dark until around 10:15 in the
summer.... kids will be there. You wouldn't put a bar or nightclub near a YMCA, Daycare, or a School ... it
perplexes me why a nightclub near a family -friendly business or near homes might be entertained for a
drinking establishment, late night business CUP.
I disagree The Oasis is a compatible use in any form other than an all -ages bar and restaurant -type grill
that closes by 11 PM with the occasional special musical guest and event (for the Arts aspect) with adult
beverages and entertainment on a much smaller scale; a nightclub belongs somewhere else.
We must remember the majority of the first photo is residential, parks, and schools ... a smaller portion is
devoted to commercial (in orange). A full-blown nightclub and events center would be better suited at
a different location away from neighborhoods. The rest of the photos are VillaSport examples and
YMCAs showing surrounding areas.

Beyond the heavily used Eagle Road and the prevalent Eagle Road Commercial corridor, the majority of
the area is composed of neighborhoods and families. The rest that is not ORANGE showing Commercial
is comprised of subdivisions, school properties, churches, and parks. Restaurants that serve alcohol do
exist, but no nightclubs or only bars in this area. The Village has more drinking establishments nearby.
VillaSport offer many Kids' Programs, including Parent's Night Out. Kids will be at VillaSport for other
Weekend Activities and will be in close proximity to The Oasis when open concurrently with VillaSport.
If you Google Map VillaSport in other cities, they are not next to NIGHTCLUBS and BARS.
