To whom it may concern,
I strongly oppose the approval of the Oasis Night Club at the corner of Ustick and Eagle in
Meridian. In reference to the City of Meridian’s stated vision “By 2035, Meridian will be the
West's premier community in which to live, work and raise a family.” Having a nightclub and bar
in close proximity to family neighborhoods is not consistent with building the most friendly
community in which to live, work and raise a family. An establishment like Oasis Night Club
belongs in an industrial complex, not in our neighborhoods. It should be placed near the freeway,
closer to hotels and other businesses as is befitting a nightclub who brings in entertainment acts
from out of state. Its proposed location is not a good fit for our community, nor will a nightclub
improve safety for our children, the quality of our schools, or our community at large. It will
increase traffic in an already busy and congested intersection, it is better suited near freeway
access. The nightclub’s "plan" is to route traffic through the neighborhood nearby, and to allow
traffic to back up on Ustick road to prevent gridlock in their wholly inadequate parking lot. The
Oasis is planning for a maximum of 1,000 patrons, yet there are less than 125 parking spaces for
ALL the businesses in this complex. We can count on their clientele to be using our neighborhood
streets as their parking lot – just as happens to the neighborhoods in downtown Boise. This will
have a negative impact on the nearby family friendly neighborhoods and this nightclub would
have a negative impact on our community, particularly the reduction in our property values in
surrounding neighborhoods. Please do not let this business move forward at this location.
