Amanda,
Thank you for your email regarding the proposed Oasis project. I appreciate your views and copied our City Clerk to have
included your comments and my response for the public record.
To operate a nightclub, also known as a Drinking Establishment per Meridian City Code, a Conditional Use Permit (CUP)
must first be obtained. An application from the Oasis Nightclub was submitted to our Planning Department in January
2021. A public hearing before the City of Meridian Planning & Zoning Commission will be held on Thursday, March 18,
2021 at 6:00pm. Notice of the public hearing will be sent by postcard by the City to all property owners within 500 feet.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will make the decision on this project unless their ruling is appealed. It that occurs
it would then be heard by the City Council. While I do not have a vote unless there is a tie, any comments regarding the
project should be reserved for that public process.
The City Clerk has the project file available online for review: The Oasis CUP H-2021-0004. Prior to the public hearing
anyone is able to review the application materials at any time as well as submit testimony. If you have any additional
comments you are able to submit testimony in advance in a number of ways. Please note, all forms of testimony hold
the same weight. Written testimony may be submitted by email to cityclerk@meridiancity.org or by text message by
texting “Comment” to 31996. Video testimony can be recorded in advance and sent by email
to cityclerk@meridiancity.org. Comments can also be left by voicemail. Please call (208) 288-5607 to record your voice
testimony. For additional information associated with this application please contact the City of Meridian Planner Joseph
Dodson at 208-884-5533.
Thank you again for sharing your comments.
Respectfully,
Mayor Robert Simison
City of Meridian

Dear Mayor Simison,
I am DEFINITELY NOT IN FAVOR of Brian Tsai building the 10,000 SF Oasis Lounge, Night Club and Concert venue on the
corner of Eagle Rd and Ustick Rd! I am shocked that Meridian would consider this type of nightclub, with all the added
traffic, crime and possibility of high numbers of intoxicated people. Even though Eagle Rd is a strip of businesses
restaurants and shopping that has already made the traffic on the road a nightmare, those businesses do not create the
extremes of noise, lights, and increased traffic that such a large nightclub/concert venue would.
I am horrified at the thought of living barely a half mile from this huge nightclub. I am in the Sharp Estates subdivision,
just adjacent to Packard Estates. This could destroy our property values, as well as cause noise, crime and disruptive
activity to seep into our actual currently quiet and safe neighborhoods! This is NOT the place for a huge nightclub or
concert venue!!!
I don't understand how this was even considered. I am just hearing about this through my local Nextdoor app, because a
local resident read it in the Idaho Statesman. Why were all of the local homeowners associations not informed? Why
were the residents not informed directly? Surely there are better locations that could actually contribute to the
enjoyment of residents of our fine city of Meridian, rather than destroying some of Meridian's most popular
neighborhoods. There are large tracts of land closer to downtown Meridian, as well as I-84, that could handle the traffic,
noise and crowds. Locations like that would be a boon to our city and not destroy beautifully built neighborhoods where
my neighbors are raising families and many others have chosen to retire.
Please reconsider the location of such a venue!
Sincerely,
Amanda Morgan

Regarding the Oasis "Drinking Establishment" (per Meridian City Code)...
I was absolutely aghast when I read the ACHD email saying, "A traffic impact study is not required for this
application." Maybe this comment by ACHD explains why we have so many growing traffic issues in this county! Eagle
Rd is already overloaded, and deciding that no traffic study is needed for the addition of such a large "drinking
establishment"!
Maybe there is also something wrong with Meridian Code in describing this proposed business as only "a drinking
establishment". Maybe there should be more detailed qualifiers to describe new business establishments that more
accurately reflect their impact on the city of Meridian!
I vehemently oppose the currently proposed location for this new business!
Sincerely,
Amanda Morgan
