Public Art Subcommittee Minutes from October 15, 2020 N. Schofield made motion to approve minutes, seconded by T. Vannucci All ayes DISCUSSION ITEMS 2. Review Options for Funding Public Art Plan A. Belnap explained to the Subcommittee that there are three options for creating a new public art plan: hiring Via Partnerships to complete the plan, hiring Delta James who assisted in the creation of the Arts Commission Strategic Plan, or enlisting T. Vannucci’s expertise to complete the plan on their own. For hiring Via Partnerships or Delta James, the Subcommittee will be eligible to apply for a grant through the Idaho Commission of the Arts. The Subcommittee indicated interest in working with T. Vannucci and inquired about his process. T. Vannucci explained his process from developing concepts down to the design and implementation of those concepts. The Subcommittee unanimously decided to move forward with creating the Public Art Plan with T. Vannucci. 3. Discuss Proposal for Public Art Tour J. Peters introduced an event/public art showing done in Wisconsin called the Farm/Art DTour and suggested that something similar could be done in our area. The Subcommittee engaged with the idea, discussing how this could be implemented with the Eagle Plein Air festival or the Events & Outreach Subcommittee’s proposed harvest fest. The Subcommittee was interested, but agreed this is something to consider for 2022. ACTION ITEMS 3. Select Location for Public Art Project to be Completed in 2021 The Subcommittee reviewed the options for 2021’s MAPS funded public art piece: Ten Mile Trailhead, Pine Ave. Trail Hub, or Seasons Park. The Subcommittee discussed the pros and cons of each location considering the space, the lending of the location to theme, and accessibility to public. Ultimately, the Subcommittee unanimously voted to move forward with a public art project at the Ten Mile Trailhead site. A. Belnap will invite Mike Barton, Parks Superintendent and Kim Warren, Pathways Manger, to the Subcommittee’s January meeting to discuss exact location, pricing, and theming of the artwork. REPORTS 4. Review Meridian Mural Series Call to Artist Distribution J. Peters reminded the Subcommittee that the deadline for application is December 7. A. Belnap informed the Subcommittee that three applications have been received. NEXT MEETING- December 17, 2020 6. Review Regular Public Art Subcommittee Meeting Day and Time and Adjust if Needed Subcommittee members were asked to email A. Belnap with their availability and she will inform the Subcommittee of times that work best for everyone. ADJOURNMENT T. Vannucci made motion to adjourn, seconded by N. Schofield and R.
