Hello Transportation Commission members and attendees,
I am reaching out to you today to speak against the ATV/UTV proposed language.
I am a homeowner in Danbury Fair subdivision and have been for 26 years. In that time, I have owned and operated
ATVs. When I first purchased an ATV, I purchased a snowplow attachment blade for the machine. My wife was
bewildered as to why it was necessary and warranted the expense. The next year was a banner snow year in the valley
and I was very happy I had made the purchase as was many of my neighbors since I used the ATV to plow many of their
driveways and sidewalks.
When we had our tremendous snowfall a few years ago, our neighborhood had many vehicles getting stuck in the snow
and some couldn’t make it out of the subdivision. I went to work clearing sidewalks and driveways in the
neighborhood. I could see many footprints in the snow along our common area walkways which I am sure were from
folks who may not even have a vehicle or from kids who were waiting at the bus stop in the deep snow.
I know many subdivisions will hire snow removal companies to remove the snow from sidewalks within their subdivision
but with the written language of this proposal, those companies would not be permitted to do so on an ATV or UTV
which many of them do.
Thank you for your time and consideration on my point of view in opposition of this proposal.
