We have a golf cart that runs around our subdivision and walking paths by kids and we do not have a golf course anywhere around. This is very welcomed and supported! 22 Jan Like Reply 3 Ron M. • Paramount Basically the same thing in Paramount for some odd reason. 22 Jan Like Reply 1 Sue F. • Meridian-Silverleaf A few are licensed for operation on public roads. 22 Jan Like Reply 1 Chelle L. • Bellingham Park Curiously, if a UTV has to have the same requirements as cars, has to obey the same laws as cars, what is the difference? Why would we not allow that? I understand that golf carts or UTV shouldn't be on the sidewalks, that makes sense, but what makes them any different than cars? 22 Jan Like Reply Donald S. • Paramount Generally, it’s underage, unlicensed operators who don’t follow road rules 22 Jan Like Reply 2 Sandy D. • Thousand Springs It should not be the vehicle that is licensed for operation on public roads that is restricted, but a driver's license should be required. If the vehicle is not licensed for public streets then it should not be allowed on public streets. 22 Jan Like Reply 3 Kathy H. • Reflection Ridge This is greatly needed. There are a lot of folks in Green Valley (adults and kids) who seem to think that Normandy subdivision is their personal test track for their ATV’s and UTV’s. It is very annoying and dangerous. 24 Jan Like Reply 1 Mark K. • Alpine Pointe I have read the proposed ordinance and agree with it. These vehicles were not intended for city streets. Meridian has congested streets now and it will get worse as new subdivisions are built. 16 min ago PRIVATE MESSAGE he new regulation omits all subdivisions of Spurwing for residents accessing The Club at Spurwing with the exception of Spurwing Heights. Fairbourne subdivision will eventually be included when construction is completed soon. Please include all areas between N Linder and Fairbourne subdivision and north of Chinden Blvd. Gary Peckham Board Member, Spurwing Master HOA Association Realtorsidaho@gmail.com 208-957-1594 You Hi there! I just want to make sure that this is in response to the ATV/UTV ordinance public hearing? Doris and Gary P. Yes in particular golf carts only FACEBOOK: Michael Groner Waste of time and needlessly interfering. Good way to get voted out of office by adopting unnecessary life-interfering laws for stupid reasons. Time to look at who made the proposals and what their idiotic thinking really benefits. Themselves and a pat on the back by themselves is the WRONG reason. · Reply · Message · 1w Kelly Duren It starts with The mayor. He is in over his head and seems to struggle with straight answers or the ability to do what is right. Follows like sheep the demented likes of Boise mayor. · Reply · Message · 1w · Edited Reply as City of Meridian, Idaho - Government Todd Aitkins Ridiculous waste of time and money even proposing this. I really hope this gets put down swiftly. · Reply · Message · 1w Jim Norman The best government is that which governs least. · Reply · Message · 1w Chad Greene Sounds like the lot of ya should be at this meeting. · Reply · · 6d Gary Duvall City of Meridian, Idaho - Government first the cell phone law, now this law, next will be a helmet law. What are you trying to make Meridian into a little California?? · Reply · Message · 1w Trey Hart How about we start with the laws already on the books... like making those neighborhood speed limit and stop signs be more that just decorations.. I cant tell you how many times Ive seen people blow the stop sign in front of my house at 40 MPH INSIDE a neighborhood! If this really is about safety, you are looking in the wrong pace.. This is about noise pollution.. someone doesnt like the noise these machines make. I remember a while back on Next Door, there was a pissing matching going on because someone takes their golf cart to the Fred Meyer at Eagle Island and some folks were all upset about it. · Reply · · 6d Claire Wilson This is the most wasteful, idiotic thing I have heard. Farmers rely on this as transportation. I sincerely wonder about the intelligence of those we voted into office. Thankfully this can change in a few years. So very disappointed in the current leadership. · Reply · Message · 1w Author City of Meridian, Idaho - Government Hello all! Jeanmarie Ederer Wheeler City of Meridian, Idaho - Government I get it all the time in my subdivision in spring and summer...very noisy, riders and drivers very young going way too fast with no protective gear, up and down streets for hours. No regard for neighborhood traffic nor stop sign nor curbs. · Reply · · 6d Jason Skelton City of Meridian, Idaho - Government - how do I provide testimony? · Reply · · 6d Jason Skelton Jeanmarie Ederer Wheeler sound like a law enforcement issue. If they are ignoring traffic laws and not wearing helmets, call the police. Reply as City of Meridian, Idaho - Government Kelly Duren Can you not find other things that this town needs instead of spending time and resources not including the amount of money on this. There are bigger issues here. Time to clean house. · Reply · Message · 1w Toni DeMarco Sparks Is this seriously an issue?? What about those who have farm land who depend on these for their work?? · Reply · Message · 1w Troy Bruce All of the UTV dealers in the valley should be voicing there opinion on this. · Reply · Message · 1w Rob Stadnick I thought this was a joke.... Y'all are really thinking of doing this? · Reply · Message · 1w Mike Steve Zero cause for the ordinance. Just making laws to restrict peoples freedoms. · Reply · Message · 1w Troy Bruce Fred Garcia Fred what about if you are on a mountain road? Would they be covered then? Legally its exactly the same on road or off road. State statutes allow it. · Reply · Message · 1w · Edited Mike Steve Fred Garcia why is it an increased risk? More than a street bike? One of the 3 wheeled trike things? And the insurance thing is not an issue, the user needs to find insurance that covers street use. Mine does · Reply · Message · 1w · Edited Mike Steve Fred Garcia again, more than any other vehicle on the road? UTVs have cages and seat belts. Motorcycles don’t. Everyone is at risk of something. we can’t restrict people over things like this. Now if UTVs and ATVs were causing accidents and acting dumb more than any other driver, then I can see a need to bring up conversation about laws but that’s not the case. Idk, people can believe what they want, I’m more of a freedom person and personal accountability. If someone messes up then that’s on them. If you are speeding or not wearing a seatbelt.... then punish the UTV driver as you would any other road driver. · Reply · Message · 1w · Edited Reply as City of Meridian, Idaho - Government Kristina Norman Is this actually a current problem? WHY is it a problem? This is a stupid waste of time and resources and an unnecessary restriction on activities that aren't problematic to begin with. Nobody is driving their 4 wheeler down Chinden. Bugger off. · Reply · Message · 1w Jeanmarie Ederer Wheeler Kristina Norman I get it all the time in my subdivision in spring and summer...very noisy, riders and drivers very young going way too fast with no protective gear, up and down streets for hours. No regard for neighborhood traffic nor stop sign nor curbs. · Reply · · 6d Kristina Norman Jeanmarie Ederer Wheeler i mean, i could say the same thing for half of the cars in my subdivision. I just don't see how the type of vehicle has anything to do with how the operator behaves. · Reply · · 6d Jeanmarie Ederer Wheeler Kristina Norman we have kids as young as 10 driving them. It is super noisy most of the time. They go up and back, up and back for what feels like hours. Most drivers just fly bye once and done. · Reply · · 6d Kristina Norman Jeanmarie Ederer Wheeler so your issue is with a 10 yr old operating a motorized vehicle on a (presumably) public street, not with ATVs and UTVs being operated on public streets.
