To City officials and whom it may concern
I am writing this email to voice my opposition to the proposed ordinance regarding UTV usage on city streets in the
City of Meridian. Idaho State Code Title 49 allows us to operate UTV's on state, county, and city roads. Because of this,
we have enjoyed being able to take our UTV's to plow snow in our neighborhoods, run to the gas station, car washes,
run a quick errand, take our children for a ride, drive to designated off road trails, or let us travel to wherever the State
Code allows. We do so safely having the proper safety equipment to be street legal (mirrors, lights, seat belts, etc) and
also having the proper insurance.
I hope that you rethink this proposed ordinance and realize that the vast majority of owners are responsible and operate
within the approved laws of the state. Also, realizing that including UTVs in this ordinance is unnecessary and an over
step because it does nothing to protect people or property anymore. UTVs have more safety features than motorcycles,
scooters, and other 2 or 3 wheeled vehicles that are not included in the ordinance.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
