A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THE ].{AYOR OF MERIDIAN, DON M. STOREY,
WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DEAL WITH THE IDAHO DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING FINANCIAL AID FG. THE PI]RPOSE OF
CONSTRUCTING MI]NICIPAL RECREATION FACILITIES IN THE CITY OF
MERIDIAN, ADA COIJI{TY, IDAHO.
oF MERTDTAN, ADA COUNTY, rDAHO:
WHEREAS, the City of Meridian, Ada County, Idaho, has
determined that there is a severe shortage of municipal recrea-
tion faciliEies for the residents of said City, and
I,IHEREAS, the said City wishes to improve the recreationfacilities and environmental quality of the City and surrounding
area, and
WHEREAS, the City is agreeable to acting as sponsor for such
recreation projects as a golf course, tennis courts, picnic areas,
ball diamonds, and other similar items, and
WIIEREAS, loca1 contributions for construction funds, if
matched by Land and Water Conservation Fund Act granEs, have been
offered;
NOW, THEREF0RE, be it resolved by the CiEy of Meridian, Ada
County, Idaho, that the Mayor of said City, acting in behalf of
Ehe City, be authorized to request a hearing by the State of
Idaho, Department 6f parks, to present a tentative plan for
improved recreation facilities and, if said hearing is favorableto pursue the acquisition of grant funds from the Land and I,rIaEer
Conservation Fund Act for the conscruction of recreation facilities
as generally outlined on the tentative plan.

This Bureau is the rate making agency for the major shareof the fire insurance conpanies which write business in the
state of Idaho. One of our respons ibi l iti es is the grading
of the fire protection facilities of a city. The last tinethis Bureau graded these facilities ln the city of l,leridian
was in 1957 and for this reason we are placing your city on
our grading itinerary. At this time I am not able to give
you an exact date of this grading but it will probably be
sonetine in 1973 before our workload will permit an exam-
ination of your town. In the meantine, I would suggest
that you take what steps which you feel are necessary to
