of oUr audit of your records for the year ended December 31' 1970 we
offer the foLlowing comments and suggestions.
Because of the excess funds in the water deposil account there LTas an amount
invested into a passbook savings account this past year. The inEerest earned
by this account should be transfered into the general fund at least on an annual
basis. It is not the purpose of the water deposit account to generate revenue
and there wouLd be no r{ay to utilize this revenue in this account.
The insurance file needs some work to bring it inEo a curtent position, We
corresponded d'irectly with the insurance agency in order to obtain the coverage
that the city has. It would be our suggestion Ehat each Eime the insurance policy
for the city expires and a new one is i.ssued,that the agent Ehat is handling
the insurance be asked to come in and review the file in which the policies are
kept. In this way he will be able to take out the oLd and expired policies
and any other papers that have no significance. We would aLso like Eo suggest
that a one fiLe or drawer be set aside for the insurance policies and that
they be kept together in this place.
IE has been a pLeasure doing the audit for the city this year, ke found that
the clerk and the treasurer and the employees of the city extended eveEy
courtesy to us in the preparation of the audit. Our offiee will be available
any time during the coming year that you may have a question. Please feel
free to call upon us at any time.

You should be commended for the use of time certificates and treasury notes
for the investment of surpLus city funds. This has provided additionsl
money for the city to use for the past year. This practice should be continued.
