Dear Mr. Cox:
In connection with the examination of the City of Meridianrs books for
Ehe year ended December 31, 1970, we wish to submit an estimated fee of
$f,500. We realize Ehis fee is materially in excess of the fee we
charged last year but under the circumstances it appears necessary. In
computing our time for the year ended December 31, 1969, we found thaE
at standard rates our fee would have been slightly in excess of $2,100,
UndersEandably additi.onal time was required to familiarize ourselves
with your accounts and procedures. We feel less time will be required
for the current yearrs audiE. It is estimated the time saved would not
amount to more than $600i therefore, we have estimated the fee at $1,500.
As before, our examination will be made in accordance wiEh generally
accepted auditing atandards and will include tests of the accounting
records and such other audit procedures as we consider necessary to enable
us to render an opinion on the fairness of your financial statements. It
is not contemplated that we will make a detailed examinaEion of all trans-
actions nor will we necessarily discover fraud should aoy exist. We wil1,
however, inform you promptly of any findings that appear unusual or abnormal.
Our rdork will include a report rshich will include our opinion, commenEs on
the Cityrs financial position and operating costs and certain supplementary
schedules, IE is understood that our fee is not to exceed $1,500.
If at any time during the engagement any exEraordinary matters come to our
attenEion, and an extension of our services appears to be required, we
reserve the right to increase our fee but only after consultation with you.
