Storey, M.ryor City of l'{e r i dian 728 l,ler idian Street Meridian, Idal-ro d 1lir42 Dear Mr. Storey: At a reguLar rneeti.ng of The State Plumbing Board held in Lewiston, ldaho, October 21st your requcs+r for cre<iit o-€ 10/" of the plurnbing inspection fees on homes pre-fabricated at the l(ingsberry ilcme s planE was referred for act ion . I have been directed to advise you that furthe:: action on your claim has been deferred pending an opinion by the oEfice of the Attorney General as to whether or not we are acting hTithin the provisions of the State Plumbing Larv in remitting l0% of the plumbing inspection fees to any municipality in lhe state. There is a basic difference between our operetion and that of the SLate iilectrical Boalci in respect to inspecEionsin The City of Merldian. In the case of electrical work The City issues the permits, collects all fees and remits 90"/. of those fees to the Elec- tZical Board as pa)rynent for their inspection services. The city performs no service whatever in tire case of plumbing rghich is the present concern of The Bcard in ccnnection with return of fees to your city and many others in the state operating in the same manner. l.Ihen rrre tool( over the plunbing inspection duties in the CiEy of Meridian it was because the City no longer earployed a qualified inspector and for that reason Eailed to continue to qualify for exemption under the state Plumbing Law. !-or that reason we were not nor are noE actinS in the capacity of city inspector but merely extending jurisdiction of The State Plumbing Board to The City of Meridian as provided by the act ' ", {e(y trgry, i-->.-:;;. r\__<,D.
