Gentlemen:
Please be advised that on October 9 , 1969. one Clinton Dundas,
also known as Recarto Shanacropolas, lva s tried for the crime of
Burglary in the First Degree. That burglary occurred in your city
at the Davis Food Store owned by one George B. Davis. The burglary
occurred April 4, 1969. The jury detiberated for only thirty-five
minutes before returning a verdict of guilty in that case. Prior
to this Mr. Leo Young, who was Mr. Shanacropolasr accomplice on
that burglary, had plead guilty.
At the Shanacropolas trial on October 9, L969, your Chief of
Police, Mr. Gene Hiner, testified as to his work, involvement and
investigations on this case. The convicticn which was returned in
this case was due largely to the police work of Mr. Hiner. The
police work which Chief Hiner did on this case v'ra s of the highestquality. It appears that your city has a high quality of police
protection. I hope that you wiLl continue to engage men on your
police department of the same quEl
