the City of Meridian. As you lcro,,r, this system represents the latest
equipment designed to provide dual tone capability; one for your Fire
Departroent and the other for the Civil Defense Attack l,r,arning signal,.
The Federal Civi.l Defense Guide r Part E Chapter I states that the
Attack llarning Sigaal sha11 be a waverihg tone for , to 5 ninutes. fhis
raeans that tbe public go to shelter i.nnediately in accord.ance with the
Comnunity Shelter PIan or go to the best avail.able shelter immetliately.
The steady tone blast for J to ! minutes is the attention or aLert
signal which is appropriate for fires.
It is requested tbat you present this natter to the Fire Departnent.
In the event that the Fi.re Officials feel that a , ninute solid blast is
not sufficient this timer can be adjusted upwa -d. to a ! minute period.
ft is further requested that this office be advised of the decision
relative to this Eatter. Conversion to the solid blast fire signal wiJ.L
be roade by the electrician so tbat the entire systen is not disturbea.
