Herald Cox Dear Hera ld : Reference is nade to our conversatlon re8ardln8 the Street SweePer whlch was transferred from Merldtan School District ll2 to the City of Merldlan by actlon of Office of CivlL Defense Form OCD 376, Regional Control No. 67-Idaho 3825-1 and Idsho Surplus ProPerty Agency Invoice No. 1667 dated 17 April 1967. Ofle of the provisions for approval of transfer was that the equlp- ment be maintained and operated to insure lts use and ava:labillty durlng an emergency. I know that the Clty of Merldian has done an excellent job on this plece of equipment. Secondly, the personnel hrho wlll be deslgnated to operate thls plece of equlpment mrst be tralned in radlologicaL monltoring and will be asslgned the role as decontaminatlon specialists in emergency pLans for your City. Records of supervlsed tralntng nust be nalntained. A 16 hour course of instructlon in radlological monitorlng and decontamination is being set up for your Clty. Thls course can be presented at night so that maxlmum attendance rlay be expected. l'{r. Larry Peck, Assistant Engineer, Clty of Bolse will be the instructor. Night classes usually start at 7:00 p,m. and w111 run to 10:00 p.m. so that tt w111 not 'rork a hardshlp on the students. since the Clty of Meridian ls served by Highway 30 and is near the new Freeway, lt ls strongly recommended that trlre and Police Department personnel attend thls course ln addltlon to your Clty Publlc Works supervisors and personnel r{rho are charged with rnainten- ance of the streets and roads.
