At that time, the property will be rezoned to a zone consistent with the Commercial FLUM designation, which will be more compatible with existing industrial uses to the north. No new development is proposed at this time; the septic system that serves the home on this property failed and the owner had to hook-up to City services which requires annexation. The residential use couldn’t continue if the property is annexed with a commercial zone as it would be considered a non-conforming use. Dear City of Meridian… This email is in regard to the above referenced annexation and zoning for the property located at 2690 E. Franklin Road. I have concerns in regard to the proposed R-2 zoning. The uses contiguous to the north boundary of this property are industrial. Residential and industrial uses are not compatible. I was involved in the annexation, zoning and development of the properties to the north during my employment with the Van Auker Companies. I know the users of the industrial properties well and I can see potential conflict between the uses. I suggest that a commercial zoning would be a better option for the subject parcel.
