HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-01-12 Dr. Patricia Dysart Meridian City Council City Clerk Regarding: Proposed New Housing Complex @ 2700 block of E Overland Drive Proposed Name: Seasons at Meridian My name is Dr. Patricia Dysart, and I'm submitting this objection to the newly proposed apartment complex listed above. live at the Fields of Gramercy located at 2020 S. Luxury Lane, Meridian, ID 83642 I've lived here for 5 years and love living in Meridian However, I must object to the City agreeing to yet again Another apartment complex here on Overland Road. The construction of these apartments and others is over the top to the people who already live here. The Silverstone apartments, and Movada housing (which are still being built) to now have another 10 buildings, 360 apartments, at least 1000 more people and 673 parking spaces (2 cars/apt) is ludicrous. The Seasons project will completely: 1. Overload the Traffic on Overland and Eagle which is already a nightmare It doesn't matter that the apartment traffic would Not Directly access Overland Rd. because they have to come out onto Overland eventually, via S. Wells Ave. I'm assuming they will extend S. Wells Ave across Overland and into the new complex but that doesn't solve anything. I can't even imagine how the construction noise and dirt will totally disrupt what is already a busy, dirty environment. 2. There are 4 schools directly across from the proposed site: Mountain View High School 2000 S Millennium Way, Sheridan Academy 2273 E Gala St., Gem Prep Meridian Charter School, and The Goddard School of Meridian Day Care 2009 S. Wells, for pre-school children. The amount of children nearby alone should take the proposed Seasons project out of consideration. 3. The current residents living here near the site are just being hemmed in all around. All the existing apartment rents are being RAISED by exorbitant sums to meet `market values' which means at least $200 to $300 this month alone. Who knows how much rents will increase with yet another NEW apartment building close by. I believe a much, much better idea for the City of Meridian and for existing area residents would be to solicit the commercial tenants such as the doctors and dentists, and other small business along with the City to chip in and BUILD A MULTI-STORY GARAGE and a small shopping center with a grocery store, some sandwich/coffee shops which workers around here could get a quick lunch, and people would have some place to PARK. Gala Ave is totally encased by parked cars so that it is dangerous during the week. I appreciate you considering my comments and hopefully giving this project another look. I do plan to be at the City Council meeting tomorrow night (January 12 6pm) to hear and maybe contribute to the discussions. Thank you Patricia L. Dysart, PhD (541) 760-1085
