Thank you Mr. Sattler - It sounds like there will be a neighborhood meeting and that you will have an opportunity to testify in front of planning and
zoning, I highly encourage you to do so.
I am not certain if the item may appear before city council in the future in an appeal or other situation so I will not comment further outside of a
public meeting at this stage.
I am CC'ing the clerk to add this to the record if appropriate.
Thank you,
Liz

Liz Strader,
Thank you for the response.
Below is a link to a current news article regarding a stabbing at a local nightclub that illustrates my concerns with a nightclub in this densely populated location
of Meridian.

Dear Liz Strader,
As we were out shopping the other day near our home we saw a sign at the corner of Ustick and Eagle for a nightclub called the Oasis.
I am very seriously concerned about the negative impact this new business would have on Meridian. My wife is a native and we've lived here with our 5
children for 13 years and for the below reasons encourage you to disallow The Oasis to move in and destroy our community.
3
1. As a coach of youth sports for over a decade I've seen an increasing number of families move to Meridian and every time, without exception, that I've asked
parents from CA what brought them here they mention that it is a safe, family-based, community. Every time.
A business with a stated dress code of a "minimum of a button up shirt and slacks" for men while women are invited to "show us your best sun dress or beach
attire", is not a business that aligns with Meridian values.
2. These types of clubs have a history of fatalities and unsafe conduct all over the USA. Below is just a short list of shootings at these types of clubs that happen
to be named the Oasis. I was unable to determine any relation between these clubs.

3. Alcohol and Eagle Road.
This location is right off Eagle Road and in the middle of a very busy intersection surrounded by homes with families and young children. I am very concerned
about this establishment in such a centrally located spot near so many homes.
Their own website reads - "We are centrally located right in the heart of the Treasure Valley. Our location services over 700,000 residents within less than a 15
minute drive".
This is a terrible idea to have a business of that nature in that location. The activities of that type of club present a significant hazard to the pedestrians and
drivers of Meridian.
Our entire neighborhood is unanimously opposed to this Club and has created a group text discussing the severe risk it poses to our community.
Please help us keep Meridian the community we all love and that you were voted in to protect and improve. The Oasis is an unmistakable threat to everything
that has attracted so many and we need your help to ensure it stays out of our community.
Thank you,
Dave Sattler

Mr. Sattler,
The City of Meridian is aware of recent marketing materials that advertise a “coming soon”
nightclub near the southwest corner of the Eagle/Ustick intersection. To operate a nightclub,
also known as a Drinking Establishment per City Code, a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) must first
be obtained. To date, a CUP application for this use has not been submitted to the City for
review and processing. Prior to submitting an application for a CUP to the City, a neighborhood
meeting between the applicant and property owners within 500 feet of the site must be held.
All property owners within 500 feet will be notified and invited by the applicant. After an
application is submitted, a public hearing before the City’s Planning & Zoning Commission will
be held. Notice of the public hearing will be sent by postcard by the City to all property owners
within 500 feet. The property owner has been notified of these process requirements and the
marketing sign should be removed in short order. Again, to date, the City of Meridian has not
received, reviewed or granted approval for a nightclub/bar/drinking establishment in this
location.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns at this point.
Regards,
Caleb
