City Council / To Whom It May Concern: In reference to the proposed Compass Pointe zoning application and subsequent development of the 4.69 acre lot (consisting of 48 high-density townhomes and a private road) at the corner of E Victory and S Locust Grove intersection, I do not support this application. As a concerned citizen for the overall health and safety of the residents of Meridian, and more so for those in the surrounding neighborhoods (including myself and my family residing in the Cavanaugh neighborhood), this application is not a fit for this area. The increased traffic in the area is already a problem and with the addition of the roundabout at the Victory/Locust Grove intersection, this congestion will be exacerbated significantly. This leads to upset drivers and creates a greater potential for frustrated driving and a much-increased chance of vehicle accidents, along with harm to pedestrians and cyclists. Further, this area has expanded greatly over the last number of years, to the point that growth has outpaced the infrastructure. The school system in South Meridian already experiences challenges transporting children to and from school expediently due to the traffic. Adding high-density housing to the area will only compound this issue, along with many others. As representatives who speak and decision applications on behalf of the citizens of Meridian, we ask that you uphold the will of the people and align with the overwhelming opposition to this application. The added revenue from an approved application does not outweigh the concerns and standards of living in this area from those who call this place home. We urge that you oppose the voices of special interests and please represent the voices and needs of the people. Regards, Brendon Haacke 1
