To City Council: I stand opposed to the rezoning and project as proposed. This is upzoning and it’s a taking of our rights without adequate compensation This is a government reallocation of wealth from the community to a private individual or business. It’s right out of the Marxist playbook. I ask myself, why did I or you move to the suburbs? Most likely to be away from high density, high crime and high traffic conditions. Wanted a safer neighborhood and community to raise your children and a nicer environment for you to live in. Did you base your decision on zoning present at the time of your purchase? How about adjacent developments and how consistent they are with your vision of a desirable neighborhood. How hard did you struggle for a down payment and/or monthly mortgage payments to live in your suburban home? Doesn’t matter when government changes the rules to allow others to profit from your decline in the quality of life you paid for. This project is not at all consistent with surrounding development, creates major impacts to local infrastructure and schools without proper mitigation, and decreases the quality of life for surrounding neighborhoods and the community as a whole without proper mitigation. Upzoning in increments has been common recently in the City and projects are approved without adequate public review to consider cumulative impacts. I stand opposed to the rezoning and project as proposed. I would support a project that is consistent with current neighborhood zoning and integrates with same neighborhoods.
