Subject:Pine Street and 10 Mile
I oppose the development planned for:
Pine Street and west of Ten Mile Road
Reasons for opposition:
The congestion and amount of traffic on Black Cat and Pine is already at a stressed point. There are a lot of
kids on both sides of Pine going back and forth playing and adding 216 apartments and 73 single family homes
+ cars daily onto Pine is scary and dangerous. All of the residents currently in this area are opposed to this
development and access to Pine Street. Classic Meridian offers development without an infrastructure to
support it. Opening up Pine Street is not necessary. Having a straight line for cars to essentially drive from
Roosevelt Street in Boise all the way out to Black Cat road in Meridian is not needed. Every day there are
hundreds of children playing in the area between 10 mile Creek and Black Cat Road going back and forth from
one established neighborhood to another already established neighborhood. We do not need the additional
traffic along with the additional danger for the hundreds of children living in the area. Let alone having a direct
line leading from the Meridian High School and all the dangerous drivers from there shows a blatant disregard
for the safety of existing residents for the money and profit of future residents.
As it stands today, both Pine and Black Cat are not designed for this level of traffic nor should it be. Ten Mile is
already a 5 lane road leading directly to the freeway and McDermit is planned in the future to connect Emmet
directly to the Freeway. Meridian claiming to be a family friendly city and environment should think about
keeping some areas as safe and family friendly. Meridian does not need density. The reason people come
here is for the openness, relaxed feel and friendly environment. Why would the city want to change that by
cramming as many people next to or on top of each other as they can. Please keep Meridian a "family friendly
city" and do not turn it into a high density big city. Keep in mind most of the new/future residents are leaving
crowded high density cities in preference for the Open and friendly feel of Meridian.
I vote no to this plan.
