I have just received notice that on Tuesday, November 15'`' there will be another meeting
in regards to the Conditional Use Permit # OS-030 for Farmers & Merchants State Bank.
As the closest business to the subject building, Washington Federal will feel the greatest
impact of this properties use. Sometimes plans look great on paper, but aze not always
practical in everyday use. In the previous two meetings I believe that Planning and
Zoning and the City Council had taken prudent steps to "fine tune" the proposed plans.
These proposals made were in the best interest of safety and common sense to our
community.
My concern is with the barrier that now divides the two properties. As stated in previous
meetings it has interrupted a "flow" between parking lots that has existed since the late
60's. Had a park been built, I suspect that the outcome would have been the same- It is
an obvious flaw that needs to be corrected. Restoring the "flow" is in the publics best
interest.
Principles of CSHQA Engineering, on behalf of Farmers & Merchants Bank, have
objected to the proposal to remove the barrier due to safe traffic movements and potential
loss of land value. I can assure you that those same terms affect us equally if the barrier
is not removed.
As you reconsider this case, I ask you to revisit your original decision to remove the
barrier and the overriding reasons for your original decision.
Sincerely,
Mark Stewart
