Dear City Council,
I am writing to express my opposition to the approval of the Delano subdivision access to Alpine Pointe. The proposed
high density housing is not similar in any way to the lot size and housing in the Alpine Pointe community. The access
being proposed will bring a large amount of traffic into our subdivision and has the potential to be opened up to the
large apartment complexes that are currently constructed. Please reject this application or make the access on
Dashwood fire access only. There is no reason that this project needs to have a connection to Alpine Pointe as Center
Point has capacity for the traffic load and is constructed properly as a collector street.
While it is true that Alpine Pointe was approved with stub streets to connect with the parcels to the south it was never
anticipated that these parcels would be developed as high density housing. As such, none of the roads inside Alpine
Pointe are constructed as collector streets. There is a portion of Wainwright, from the pool east to Eagle Rd, that is
wider and does not have direct driveway access. However, this is not true for all of Wainwright and the remainder of
the streets are residential so there is no way to travel north or west without being on a residential street.
If this project is approved with access into Alpine Pointe via Dashwood it will irreparably change the traffic through our
neighborhood as well as the character and feel of our community. Please respect the investment that we have made in
building our lives and homes in Meridian and disapprove this project.
