In addition to the schools listed in the email below there are 2 schools of choice (Donnell and Spalding) and middle school/high school academies that these students may decide to attend. Using 842, we may determine the following: K-5 = 388 students 6-8 = 194 students 9-12 = 259 students When a school reaches or exceeds capacity West Ada considers several options: teachers travel, portables are added for emergency capacity, a new school is built, schools are capped, or attendance boundaries are adjusted. It will add approximately 264 children to the system and with the current approved new construction, which Toll Brothers pointed out those new constructions, that is approximately 1,053 homes, not including this 334 homes. So, that's going to add -- right now the capacity of the schools -- the capacity that's left right now without all these new developments coming on, there is a capacity for 649 kids between Mary McPherson, Sienna, Victory Middle and Meridian High and there are 800 and some children -- 886 children proposed, including these. I don't know where we are going to put these kids. I mean we are going to overcapacity our schools by 200 children after some of them are already over capacity?" Based on the data that we have available showing 7,500 units that are under approved and entitled that we expect to be added to Meridian in the next two years, and knowing the number of students who graduate from WASD, and utilizing the schools formula can we please check the above information. Does it appear that including this development we will be 200 children over capacity in these schools? It appears that the WASD has done some analysis, if that is the case I'd like to leverage that with our own data to get a clear picture of school overcrowding. If these schools will likely be overcrowded in the coming few years, will there be projected capacity elsewhere district-wide given the approved units we are expecting elsewhere and how much? This is a key decision piece for me on this development, so I appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you Liz Liz Strader | City Councilwoman City of Meridian | City Council Office 33 E.
