At this time, the City does not have a formal application for this specific property. If/when the application is submitted to the City and you are within 300' of the project boundary, you will receive notification from the City of the public hearing date and the property owner will also be responsible to place public hearing signs along all street frontages abutting the subject property. Public testimony will be welcomed at that time. In the meantime, you can use the attached link to track when an application is scheduled for hearing: https://meridiancity.org/planning/current/application-map Sincerely, Bill Parsons, AICP I Planning Supervisor City of Meridian I Community Development Dept. 33 E. From: James Lattin <jameslattin@gmail.com> Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2020 11:29 PM To: planninginquiries <planning@meridiancity.org> Subject: Opposition to higher density Zoning at Hillsdale and Amity My name is James Lattin. I am a resident of the Century Farm neighborhood. I recently received notice of Challenger Development's preliminary plan for the corner of E Amity Road and S Hillsdale Ave. I am writing to let you know that I am concerned about the impact this development would have on the area if approvals are granted to change to higher density zoning. Our schools are already overcrowded and struggle to accommodate the existing growth even without increasing density population in this area. This has a severe impact on local neighborhoods and the school community while trying to accommodate rapid growth and school crowding. I'm also concerned about the traffic in South Meridian and the impact that higher density housing will have on an already stressed road system. It's not uncommon for Eagle road to be completely backed up north of Amity up towards the freeway. The other 2 lane roads in the area (Amity, Cloverdale, Lake Hazel, etc) also can be backed up and overcrowded during rush hour as the city continues to experience unprecedented growth. With more homes being rapidly built already I worry that the growth in this area will be managed in a sustainable way that the current and future infrastructure can support. Please consider encouraging Challenger Development to help develop a community that will support the future of our neighborhood rather than be a burden on it. I hope that the plan eventually accepted by the city is one that doesn't include an increase to the population density in this growing area of the city and is consistent with Meridian City's vision for sustainable growth. Sincerely, James Lattin
