I will be brief. I believe your upcoming Meridian City Council meeting (June 23ld) agenda includes a request to approve rezoning for the proposed Tanner Creek Subdivision project which is planned to be located in Meridian on Waltman Lane. Now if you haven't had the pleasure of driving down Waltman—I would encourage you to do so as this perspective would be important for any discussions on the future development of this property. I completely understand and believe that development of this area is inevitable if not important. This project may be a good idea, but the general consensus seems to be the proposed project as designed is poorly planned if not misplaced. As you are probably aware, the property was annexed in 2008 with a conceptual development plan for commercial use (offices/hotels/etc..). I believe this was amended recently by your new comprehensive plan to be primarily mixed use. The current Tanner Creek Subdivision project as proposed is neither commercial nor mixed use. Consequently, the project creates significant traffic and pedestrian issues. In addition, I believe allowing this developer to somehow link this project to any future plans of another parcel (to obtain the necessary commercial aspects) is simply not the intent of the revised comprehensive plan. Bottom line this property should be recognized and developed as a gateway cornerstone to our proud community. It should be developed in a way that brings jobs and prestige to the area much like the businesses currently in the vicinity. It is simply not a place for more apartments. I would like to see this project developed in a safe and prudent way(lower density/ more open space/improved traffic patterns) if not outright rejected to allow for future development of the property that meets the intent of a well thought out comprehensive plan. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Bill Kissinger 420 Waltman Lane, Meridian, bilik atsinlandnw.com /(208) 608-6630 cc:Meridian City Council Members Liz Strader,Joe Borton, Brad Hoaglun, Treg Bernt Jessica Perreault Luke Covener
