Subject:RE: Challenger Development Application-Centerville Subdivision - concerns
Good Evening Christine,
Thank you for providing comments on a potential project next to your subdivision. At this time, the City does not have a
formal application for this specific property. If/when the application is submitted to the City and you are within 300’ of
the project boundary, you will receive notification from the City of the public hearing date and the property owner will
also be responsible to place public hearing signs along all street frontages abutting the subject property. Public
testimony will be welcomed at that time.
Sincerely,
Bill Parsons, AICP | Planning Supervisor

Subject: Challenger Development Application-Centerville Subdivision - concerns
Re: Challenger Development Application-Centerville Subdivision "Challenger Development"
City of Meridian Planning Department,
I am a homeowner in Century Farm, and I do have concerns regarding the Challenger Development known as
Centerville Subdivision as the area is already experiencing unresolved issues surrounding crowding at public
schools (all levels) - Hillsdale Elementary is over capacity, a well known issue expressed by the West Ada
School District through several public hearings over last year or so.
I do think the Centerville Subdivision would negatively impact the quality of life of existing homeowners in the
area as the site plan involves mostly medium to high density development which is not in line with the Meridian
Vision for that space.
1
Apartments are not part of the vision for this area. . .apartments would exacerbate the school overcrowding
issue as well as negatively impact home values, increase crime, increase traffic amongst an array of other
negative impacts. . .
I want the developers to be consistent with the Meridian Vision which is what homeowners like myself can get
behind. We know that the land will be developed, yes it is a high probability it will be a subdivision; however,
we can prevent issues before they start by not allowing the medium to high density aspects of the project to be
approved, and definitely not allow apartments.
I am looking to attend upcoming hearings on this project- should I look for a calendar/schedule on your website,
or do you have a flyer I can reference?
I thoroughly enjoy living in Meridian and I hope that the quality of life I've grown to adore won't be squashed
by a developer like Challenger Development.
Positive feedback: I do think the planning for Century Farm was well thought out and the developer approached
it in the right way-- the neighborhood seems to work harmoniously with the vision of the area, so if you need
any good models to reference - I don't think you have to look far.
