I am in strong opposition to this plan as a homeowner very close to the school. We do not want transient tenants moving into this super compact development. We especially do not want this across the street from our school that all of my kids go to. It is hard to control the quality of individuals that live in such developments, and we do not want this happening across the street from our school. It is a danger to our children. It is never a good idea to put transient living space next to an elementary school. 1 We also do not want the YMCA to become super overcrowded, because it is already very crowded with all of the developments going up around it. That is also a health concern with the COVID-19 pandemic still in full swing. This is a virus we will have to live with from now on, it’s not going anywhere, and they were likely will not be an effective vaccine ever developed, as there has never been an effective vaccine developed for any of the other coronaviruses that we have been dealing with for decades. I am a healthcare professional, I do Anesthesia for a living, and during my medical training, I learned all about the spread of disease. Overcrowding a space like the YMCA is a sure fire way to Ensure the spread of whatever bacteria and viruses are prevalent in a particular area, especially COVID-19. We cannot have this development cramming people into this community, and coming over to use our YMCA, it will be way too easy to spread disease with an overcrowded facility that this development would create. There is also a huge concern with traffic, the intersection of Amity Road and Hillsdale is a simple “T” intersection. It is absolutely not made to handle all of the traffic from a huge development built right next to it, we cannot share this intersection with them, it will create very long traffic lines to get onto Amity Road. Have you taking the opportunity to experience the traffic when school gets out in front of Hillsdale Elementary? I can’t even imagine how horrible the congestion will be if this development is put up right next to this already horrific congestion that happens every morning and every afternoon when school starts and ends. These are some of the reasons why it would be a very bad idea to put such a condense living space right next to our community, and right next to our school and YMCA. I think most of us are fine with another development going on this property, as long as they are single-family homes. Last night we all showed up to physically make known our opposition of this plan, there were a lot of us there, and there is a good reason for that. All of the reasons I have spelled out, as well as many others are extremely concerning to all of us. Please take the time to really think about my concerns, as well as those of my community, Thank you. Devin Holt Century farm resident and homeowner 2
