Good Afternoon Kate,
Thank you for providing comments on a potential project next to your subdivision. At this time, the City does
not have a formal application for this specific property. If/when the application is submitted to the City and you
are within 300’ of the project boundary, you will receive notification from the City of the public hearing date
and the property owner will be responsible to place public hearing signs along all street frontages. Public
testimony will be welcomed at that time.
Sincerely,
Bill Parsons, AICP | Planning Supervisor

Subject: Challenger Development
To whom it may concern.
My name is Kate Neitzling and I live in the Rockhampton II neighborhood in the mile radius of Eagle Road,
Lake Hazel, Cloverdale and Amity between Boise and Meridian. I am writing to express my concerns in regards
to the Challenger Development's preliminary plan for the corner of E. Amity road and S. Hillsdale Avenue. I
was recently made aware of this plan for the high density apartment building and townhomes/single family
homes that are proposed to go in and wanted to voice my opinion alongside my neighbors.
If the plan does move forward, I'm afraid this area of town will become so densely populated a number of things
would happen. The traffic would increase (it already is increasing severely with the Century Farms and Orchard
Creek neighborhoods and Meridian YMCA) and more children in the mile radius of Hillsdale Elementary will
have to be BUSSED OUT to other elementary schools as the school is already so overcrowded.
What once was a nice, quiet place to live (and most of us choose to live south of the freeway for this reason), is
already becoming more and more populated and with population comes more crime, more traffic, and more
1
dangers for all our neighbors and children. Not to mention, the house values of every single home in this mile
radius will drop instead of become stable or continue to rise. With this proposed plan as well and the increase in
traffic and crime, the proposed plan will also have to lead to an increase in Meridian and Boise police force to
help maintain the area.
If the preliminary plan isn't revised to address some of these concerns or at least limit the number of homes to
be put in, this could impact greatly this entire neighborhood and surround neighborhoods negatively.
Challenger Development has an opportunity here to develop something our community can be truly proud of. I
hope that the plan ultimately accepted by the city will address these concerns and create an evolving, livable
and vibrant neighborhood that is mindful of our current residents and Meridian's overall Vision.
Regards,
Kate Neitzling
