As this issue you describe will likely come before the City Council and I as part of a public hearing, I – as well as Council – are not able to make comments regarding the land use issue outside of that process. I have copied our City Clerk to this email so that your email and this response can be included as part of the record should this item move forward. I have recently received notice of Challenger Development's preliminary plat plan for the corner of E Amity Rd and S. Hillsdale Rd. I am writing to let you know that I am concerned about the ADDITIONAL over crowding in our schools (my granddaughter already has to sit on the floor to eat her lunch because there is no place to sit, there are already children who live in this neighborhood who are bused to a different school because Hillsdale has NO room for them) amount of traffic and people that this is going to bring to the community as well as LOSS of property value. There are already three significantly good size neighborhoods in the vicinity (Hillsdale Creek, Century Farm, & Rock Hampton), we don't need any more. The reason my family and I chose Hillsdale Creek was because of the good schools and that it was located slightly out of town so we 1 were away from the craziness but still close enough. This development will significantly lower our property values that each and every one living here has worked so hard for. We have chosen to live in a custom built neighborhood for a reason and do not need our property values brought down by building of apartments/town homes . There are plenty of apartment buildings going up throughout Meridian, do we really need another one? If the preliminary plan isn't revised to address these concerns this will impact our children's education, crime, traffic, and so much more. I hope that the plan ultimately accepted by the city will address these concerns to better create an evolving, livable, vibrant, and connected neighborhood in the line with #MyMeridianVision. Sincerely, Kathy Harris Hillsdale Creek Resident 2
