Good Morning Marcy,
Thank you for providing comments on a potential project next to your subdivision. At this time, the City does not have a
formal application for this specific property. I have included the City Clerk’s office on this email stream so they can share
your concerns to the Council before the application is processed by the City. Once an application is received and
processed the Council cannot address your comments until the public hearing. If/when the application is submitted to
the City and you are within 300’ of the project boundary, you will receive notification from the City of the public hearing
date and the property owner will be responsible to place public hearing signs along all street frontages. Public testimony
will be welcomed at that time.
Sincerely,
Bill Parsons, AICP | Planning Supervisor

Dear Meridian City Council:
1
We just received the Notice of the Challenger’s Development preliminary plans for the corner of E. Amity and S. Hillsdale
Avenue. We are writing to you with very strong concerns regarding this proposed development. We live in the
Rockhampton I subdivision and have already experienced considerable growth with the addition of Hillsdale Creek
Subdivision. Here are several of my concerns:
1) Overcrowding of the public schools
a. Our neighbors, who just moved in to Hillsdale Creek Subdivision, were unable to enroll their children in
Hillsdale Elementary school because they are full. They have to travel 20 minutes to and from school each
day when they could have walked two blocks. With the addition of multifamily structures along with new
homes, where are the children going to go to school?
2) Overcrowding the YMCA
a. After school programs and Recreational programs
1) Before Corona Virus and quarantine, it was nearly impossible at times to find a place to park at the
YMCA and enjoy the facilities.
3) Traffic congestion that is already overcapacity.
We are sure all of these and many more concerns have been explored, but the input of surrounding neighbors is very
important and hope they will be given serious consideration.
Thank you,
David and Marcy Paul
