Re: Unbound Library 12019024
To whom it may concern:
As your future neighbor, the Unbound Library project is planned to renovate and inhabit the existing building at
722 East 2"d Street. It will be taking advantage of the existing, modest two-story concrete structure between E
Idaho Ave and E Broadway Ave. This remodel intends to provide the Meridian Library District with adequate
space to provide all their current services, while upgrading the building's programming capabilities to meet the
needs of the community for now and for the future.
As part of this new building design in your neighborhood, there is the need to make sure the public has adequate
access into the building's front door. As the structure currently stands, there is a step up into the building which
does not meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To ensure we are constructing a public project that does
have proper accessibility, we plan to build a concrete ramp into a portion of the sidewalk that we will be sharing.
The plans for this encroachment is as follows.
ENCROACHMENT:
• The encroachment on the site will be a concrete ramp with a patio extension into the primary front entry
of the building. Currently there is a step up into the building which does not meet ADA standards. The
goal of this new ramp is to make this front entry accessible while also incorporating a small outdoor
patio. The entire encroaching element will be placed on the existing sidewalk along 722 East 2nd Street.
It will be constructed by pouring a concrete slab and incorporating a thin steel railing to protect the

permanent encroachment considering this is an egress exit that will need to maintain ADA access. The
extension into the sidewalk will leave the sidewalk with a 5)4' width around the new ramp.
If you have any questions, please reply to the email address below for further details on the upcoming project.
